CAPER – detailed in Neale’s 9th edition (2020)

CAPER offers Five Steps for Paediatric Podiatrists as a framework that directs a ‘two-way street’ for clinicians who see children, with a focus on gait and function.

Simultaneous to the five steps in addressing the child (ie Context, Age, Pain, Evidence. Reasoning), the clinician measures five steps of their own to match the child (ie Consider, Approach, Problem, Explore, Respond).

Using C.A.P.E.R. wisely, clinicians can assess paediatric cases from the perspective of ordered evidence.
